Antiperspirants & Deodorants

A deodorant stops odor by killing skin bacteria with biocides and masking odor through fragrance. An antiperspirant reduces the amount of available water on the skin with astringents, most commonly aluminium salts.

Processing deodorant and antiperspirant formulations presents several challenges. Some of these ingredients can form agglomerates which conventional agitators cannot readily break down. Other ingredients require shear in order to develop their desired properties. With a Silverson high shear mixer, intermediate stages of production can be eliminated, product quality improved and processing times dramatically reduced.
